Tips for Moving Your Fridge and Freezer

Moving can be a tough job, and getting your fridge and freezer ready is important. To make it easier, here are some simple tips to help you defrost and prepare them for the move:

• Get ready ahead: Plan to defrost your freezer at least 24 hours before moving day.

• Take everything out: Remove all the food from your fridge and freezer. Throw away any food that can spoil. Pack non-perishable items in separate coolers.

• Unplug and thaw: Turn off the power to your fridge and freezer. Leave the doors open to let the ice melt. Put towels down to catch any water.

• Speed up defrosting: To make the ice melt faster, put a bowl of hot water inside or use a hairdryer on low heat. Be careful and don't use anything sharp to remove ice.

• Clean and dry: Once the ice is gone, clean the inside of your fridge and freezer with warm, soapy water. Make sure everything is dry to avoid mould and mildew.

• Keep doors closed: Use tape or rope to keep the doors closed during the move. This will help protect your appliances.

By following these easy steps to defrost and prepare your fridge and freezer for the move, you can keep them safe and working well in your new home. Getting them ready ahead of time will make moving day a breeze!
